BookOrchestra is a live orchestra of readers a space of books and microphones where anyone can read. It is a hyper-literary performance where reading aloud becomes an informal bridge betweer artistic languages such as music, literature, happe- nings, theatre … resulting in a multimedia prolifera- tion. At the heart of the experience lie the book and its acoustic dimension; traditional literary mea- ning oscillates constantly between textual signifi- cance and pure sonic matter. The result is an open fragile work fuelled by the willingness and encounter of others’ voices

This album captures selected musical moments from the expanded BookOrchestra happening, which took place on November 20th and 21st, 2025. For two consecutive days, the BaseCamp Altrove space at Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan opened its doors to anyone wishing to read, whether in silence or aloud. There was no stage: a six-piece live band dissolvec into the human landscape, scattered throughout the room, body to body, just inches away from the readers and their books. The Basecamp library, dispersed here and there across the room was transmuted into sound. BookOrchestra Expanded is a resident project within BaseCamp at the Locarno Film Festival, bridging literature, music, and multimedia arts.
